With effect from 01 October 2018, Order ESS/214/2018 of 1 March 2018 will enter into force. This order introduces the obligation for self-employed workers to electronically manage their affiliation, contribution and collection their affiliation, contribution and collection formalities, as well as the receipt of the receipt of notifications of administrative acts from the General Treasury of the Social Security.
The self-employed are receiving this information progressively, with communications from the Social Security by various means: e-mail, SMS or letter. The Social Security will provide two channels for compliance with this obligation:

  • Self-management of Social Security notifications by the self-employed. To do this, the self-employed must provide the Administration with their contact details, mobile phone number and e-mail address, which will be used to send them communications of interest and notices (provision of notifications such as non-payment of contributions, embargoes, etc.). Once the notice has been received, the self-employed person must download the notification electronically, using the FNMT digital certificate, electronic ID card or Cl@ve system.
  • Appoint an authorised person to act on their behalf.
